Wooden, Fabric & Aluminum Blinds
Blinds are slats made from a variety of sturdy materials connected by a wire apparatus. The mechanism allows them to be rotated 180 degrees up or down to completely block the light and prevent people on the outside looking in. Blinds’ slats can also remain horizontal, providing filtered lighting and partial viewing. For a totally unobstructed window frame, you can collect your blinds in a tightly packed pile above the window. Blinds are usually controlled by the standard pull-cord mechanism. Made to measure blinds can be ordered for exact fit or style.
More thought is being put into the construction and design of the actual slats as of late. Wood, especially Venetian wooden blinds, is a beautiful style for these window treatments. It adds depth and power to a room, conveying strength, comfort and warmth, all at the same time. Aluminum blinds are durable and solid without being overbearing or dull. Grooved slats that inter-lock for additional privacy, curved slats for style, and a wide range of widths for various purposes are available, as well. Decorative trimmings and piping are unique options that create the illusion of custom window blinds.
Venetian blinds- Venetian blinds, taken from Venice in the 1700’s, are the basic form of blinds (i.e. metal, vinyl, wood, or plastic slats loosely connected by a string to be rotated in place.)
Vertical blinds- Vertical blinds use the same mechanism as horizontal blinds, but offer the twist of a new direction and the added beauty of length. These are especially fine choices for sliding glass doors or large full-length windows.
Miniblinds- The slats on these blinds are a fraction of the width of regular blind slats (a half, quarter or even an eighth of some customary blinds), hence, ‘mini’ blinds.
